Instructions: Read the messages. Choose the correct answer.

Dear Lena,

Thanks so much for dinner last night! We had a wonderful time. It was really nice to meet Marco and your beautiful children. My son, Paul, had a very good time with your kids, and Sam and I enjoyed talking with you and Marco! You have a lovely home, and the food was so delicious. Excellent pasta!

We would love to have you, Marco, and the kids over to our house for dinner soon. Are you free on Saturday, Nov. 12? You could come over around 5:00 to give the kids a chance to play before dinner. Please let me know if you can make it.

Reading Social Messages

Hi Jake,

I hope you’re doing well. I’m really sorry, but I can’t make it to the hike on Saturday. I hurt my ankle last night, and the doctor says I should stay off my feet for at least a week. I can’t do any exercise at all.

I won’t be able to drive you on Saturday, but you can borrow my car. And why don’t you stay for dinner after the hike when you bring the car back?

Let me know if that works for you, and sorry again! Hopefully I’ll be back on my feet in a few weeks.

Cheers,

Ahmed

Hey Ben,

It’s been a long time! I’ve been really busy the last few months. I started teaching at a new school in September. It’s high school close to my house and I love it. I’ve also been doing a lot of work on my house. I put a new floor in the bathroom, and I painted the bedrooms and the living room. And, I’ve been volunteering at the food bank downtown. I even met a nice guy there. His name is Andreas. I hope we can get together soon so you can meet him.

Let me know how things are going with you. How is everyone at the school? What are you teaching this year? Be sure to say hi to everyone for me.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Danny
